Land Rover Defender 90 V8 for sale - £39,995

As you can imagine, we meet a pretty diverse range of owners here at GQ and while each interaction is as enjoyable as the last this particular story (over a few coffees and lifts home) really struck us.

Whatever it was, for now we’ll let the description below do the talking and look forward to filling in the blanks should such a car be for you.

This 1991 registered Defender was fully rebuilt from new parts in 2013, on a new galvanised Richards V8 chassis and fitted with a Dave Ellis built and tuned Rover 4.8 litre engine mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox.

Specially built in order to match or exceed the likes of Overfinch Defenders in terms of performance, reliability and general useability. Long distance road use was an important consideration in the specification, whilst avoiding too much compromise in terms of off road capabilities.

He (or she?) was built to look near standard, and has not been “Chelsea Tractor’d”. Apart from the air scoop on the bonnet it could easily be mistaken for an XS Station Wagon. The running gear was built for strength, performance and reliability - and the engine sounds just like a proper V8 should. Perfectly useable as a daily driver it has covered approximately 30k miles since the build, this Land Rover is easy to drive and will do everything a normal Defender should do, but better. It runs on standard unleaded fuel, and has power steering, traction control, an anti-lock braking system .... and modern air conditioning.

It is correctly registered as 4.8 petrol engined and road tax is £245 a year.
