The R8 was Audis first attempt at producing a genuine sportscar to take on the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and Aston Martin. Launched in 2006 and in production for 18 years and two generations the R8 was available as a Coupe and Spider, with a V8 and V10, with a manual and paddle shift gearbox (first single clutch, later double clutch). The car started life as a V8 Coupe and grew over the years in power output and price, but for the discerning driver the recipe was never sweeter than the original V8 manual coupe.
The R8 V8 manual has become an increasingly sought after car. Revered for its sweet, free revving V8 engine (a dry sumped version of the 4.2 V8 found in the RS4), coupled to a secure, compliant yet playful chassis. The icing on the cake, for those that selected the right option, was a beautifully tactile manual gearshift. The press raved about them and the appreciation for the model has only grown in recent years as the availability of truly analogue sportscars has dried up. The R8 V8 manual is a true Evo 5 star car.
The car we are delighted to offer for sale is a beautifully cared for 23,000 mile, 2 owner car, with a complete service history. The car has been serviced exclusively by Audi and then more recently by R8 experts RE Performance. The car remains completely standard with the exception of the fitment of the V10 passive suspension set-up, replacing the standard and very expensive to replace mag-ride system. This provides the new owner with a beautifully riding and handling car, with none of the worries about costs of electronic damper replacement.
The car has been professionally stored with us for the last 3 years and lightly used by the current owner during that time for special occasions. It is his pride and joy and he has agonised for a while over selling the car, but has now decided the time is right for it to move on to the next owner, hopefully one that will love and cherish the car as he has.
Because they are such fantastic, well built, usable sportscars it is now very hard to find an R8 in such fine condition as this example.
